September News17/9/2000 Luca for Bolton? According to ex Bradford manager and now Sky pundit Chris Kamara, Gianluca Vialli has made enquiries to Sam Allardyce about the possibility of a playing 'career' at the Reebok. How much of this rumour is correct is open to speculation but I for one reckon he might be able to do a job for us, like Ian Marshall is currently doing, despite his advancing years, he'd have to take a pretty big pay cut though! Fish gets hooked. Sorry about the shite headline, apparently a three year extension to his current contract, which runs out at the end of the season has been offered to our defensive rock. If he signs (early next week), aside from the class he brings to the side it also means we may actually get some money for him should he decide to leave. 15/9/2000 Nigerian International to sign on. Mutiu Adepoju, Nigeria's captain looks sure to sign a season long loan deal next week, with a view to a permanent move. He certainly seems to have the right credentials with Spanish clubs Real Madrid 'B',Castellon, Savadell, Racing Santander among his former teams. Nicknamed 'The Headmaster' (Ive no idea!), he has been linked with English football once before as Wimbledon attempted to sign him after the 1998 World Cup but were frightened off by the £4 m price tag his current club Real Sociedad demanded.
6/9/2000 Fish injury latest.
The extent of Mark Fish's ankle ligament injury will become apparent in the next few days. It could mean a lay-off of anything from 2 to 10 weeks, the wisdom of having him play last night I think was flawed, especially as we were beaten. this could be a blessing in disguise however, I think the amount of games played last season certainly took its toll and maybe this term the league should be our priority. 5/9/2000 Mystery Italian finally signs. The player in question has been revealed as AS Roma's Emmanuele Morini, the secrecy shrouding the transfer looks to have been prudent as it seem Derby County were sniffing around. The 18 year old player has signed a four year deal and is, according to Allardyce - "a young striker with tremendous pace and skill, a genuine star of the future", which probably means he'll be flogged for a pittance if he becomes successful. Neil Mcdonald returns to the club. The former player has rejoined the club as director of the youth Academy, the bloke has held a similar position at Preston for the past three years or so.
