EC kick starts the slow death of Football.

Not content with dreaming up crackpot schemes and bailing out Greek dirt farmers the EC have decided to poke their Gallic snouts into football, and have decreed that a system that has been in place for a near century should be done away with, the move has been welcomed by the big clubs, who have been shitting themselves since the Figo transfer, but in effect it means that the non-Premier league clubs are fucked financially, bunch of tosspots or what ?

Tommo heads North of the border in £2.8m deal.

After a fairly uneventful spell at Villa, former fans favourite Alan Thompson will be linking up with his old teammate Alan Stubbs at Celtic, joining him will be Hibs striker Didier Agathe, once linked with the Wanderers. This comes only 24 hours after Rangers signed up Ronald De Boer, why do these players make the move to the mediocre SPL ?, the answers simple - filthy lucre!.

Passi signs extended deal.

Franck Passi has signed an extension to his short term contract on the strength of his perfomances this season, I was baffled why Passi was released at the end of last season, while he may not set the place alight, he always seemed like a very useful squad player, the extension of this tenacious players contract is a credit to the blokes perseverence.

QPR game postponed.

Our 2nd of September home game against QPR will be rescheduled due to international call-ups, Gareth Farrelly for Eire, Jaaskelainen for Finland and, in a U-turn prompted by work permit/visa problems, Mark Fish will be returning to international duty with South Africa as they play Congo in an African Nations cup qualifier.

Warhurst crocked again!.

No sooner as he's back playing Paul Warhurst is injured again, is this bloke unlucky or what?, its a Hamstring strain this time and it looks likely he'll be out for two weeks.

Reserves get pasted/Trialists shown the door.

The reserves kicked off their season against Huddersfield at Leigh RMI last night and were promptly stuffed 5-1, the only Bolton goal a penalty rebound from Mikael Kaprielian after Paul Wheatcroft's penalty was deflected by the 'Town keeper, the penalty was given under dubious 'handball' circumstances as a Huddersfield defender picked the ball up thinking the referee had blown for a foul.

Whether or not a consequence of this defeat, Sam Allardyce has decided to end the trials of the Portugese midfield duo Marco Almeida and Paulo Ferreira and the former Celtic wide-man Reggie Blinker, perhaps the Dutchman had lost some of the skills that made him a cult hero at Sheffield Wednesday but strengthening the wide positions is a must at the moment and its unlikely anyone decent enough will be found among the bargain bins.

Interest in African striker ?

According to reports coming out this afternoon Bolton are showing an interest in the French based African foward Didier Agathe. The player who is currently on a three month loan/trial with Edinburgh club Hibernian scored twice in Hibs game with Dundee Utd last week, one of them a brilliant individual effort, formerly of Montpellier, Agathe spent a portion of last season at Raith Rovers. If Sam pursues his interest he is likely to face competition from Man City and Hibernian themselves.

Rankin signs last minute deal.

Conflicting reports had confirmed that the 22 year old Bradford City player Isiah Rankin would, or would not, be joining us on loan, however it looks likely that the pacey Rankin will be joining up with the squad tomorrow.

If this happens it can only be a good thing. The strengthening our depleted foward line must surely be a priority, it seems like Isiah will be signing on an initial three month contract, what happens after this period will depend on the tight-arsed board.

Leicester Striker onboard.

Ian Marshall will definitely be linking up with Bolton on a week to week contract, no disrespect to the bloke but I think signings like this demonstrate the ambition of the club. If we don't make get some more real players in (the promising looking Italian for one) and/or perhaps give a chance to the likes of Kaprielian, Wheatcroft and Rankin we'll be struggling for goals this season.
